Many Thanks to Thierry Guillaumot from France for these very nice photos From Ovation Website: "Handcrafted in Ovation’s flagship workshop in New Hartford, Connecticut, the new Limited Edition Adirondack Elite honors the company’s long tradition of building innovative American guitars. This collectable instrument boasts an Adirondack spruce soundboard and striking soundhole decorations made of American walnut, cherry, oak, and hickory. And for the first time, Ovation’s luthiers are making the Limited Edition model’s signature 5-piece neck from walnut with oak and cherry center laminations. Other features of this remarkable guitar include a Contour Bowl composite body, which maximizes acoustic output and is ergonomically designed for comfort in any playing position, a walnut fretboard with cherry inlays, a cherry peghead overlay, walnut body binding, and Ovation’s acclaimed OP-Pro Studio preamp. Ovation Book Elite Rebuilt in 2010 Merci beaucoup à Patrick McGuire des USA pour ces très belles photos. ------------------------- Many Thanks to Patrick McGuire from USA for these very nice pictures. Description: Ovation “Book” Elite 1768-LTD (Customized) A beautiful, refurbished Ovation “Book” Elite 1768-LTD. This guitar had been damaged in shipping and was sent to the factory in New Hartford, Connecticut for repairs. The owner decided to forego cleating the crack in the soundboard and elected to replace the top (which includes replacing the bowl). He also decided to have the factory customize the original configuration by replacing the standard walnut bridge with a carved ebony bridge, which had the added benefit of not being bolted to the soundboard like the original. This modification results in greater sustain as the instrument is played. The neck was modified slightly by having the “hand-rubbed urethane” finish redone in a gloss. Finally, the pearloid tuning buttons were replaced with ones made from buffalo horn. (1996) Before Repairs:

Many Thanks to Patrick from USA for these very nice pictures. Description and Specs: Ovation Custom/Converted Mandocello (Originally an Elite 1868 guitar) Originally an Elite 1868, this instrument was sent to the factory in New Hartford, CT where its neck and bridge were replaced to convert it to a mandocello. (The pictures above include “before” and “after” photos.) It has a standard mandocello neck and ebony fretboard as well as an ebonized walnut bridge. Mandocellos are not available in a burst finish, so this one is unique for that reason alone. However, the ivoroid binding and the maple/padauk purfling is no longer used in factory spec Ovations of any kind. (Or so the owner believes.) The greatest difference between this instrument and the other “cellos” however comes from its original construction as an Elite guitar. The bracing for this one is quintad whereas spec mandocellos are built with modified-A bracing. The scale of 25 ¼” is identical to its guitar cousins. Whatever the case regarding its unique features, it is a surprisingly loud instrument with considerable bottom end to the tone thanks to its CGDA tuning. It serves as yet another fine example of the quality that routinely comes from the Ovation factory. (2010)
