Connecticut Industry Magazine – July 1967: Ovation Instruments Feature Article – The Tradition of Old World Craftsmanship Meets Modern Aerospace Technology

1967 US 4 pages

This July 1967 issue of Connecticut Industry magazine features a multi-page article on Ovation Instruments, a division of Kaman Corporation based in New Hartford, Connecticut, detailing how aerospace engineering principles and materials were applied to create the innovative roundback acoustic guitar. The article explains how Kaman's aerospace background—including use of Lyrachord silicone fiber composite bowls, aircraft adhesives, and precision manufacturing—led to a scientifically superior guitar design that combined Old World lutherie craftsmanship with modern technology. Six acoustic guitar models had been produced by early 1967, with electric guitars and amplifiers planned for later that year. Many thanks to my friend Dave for this great and very rare document
