Ovation Guitar Thinline Preamp

1997

The Ovation Thinline Preamp was officially introduced in 1997 as a streamlined, high-performance alternative to their bulkier electronics. Designed for players who preferred a low-profile aesthetic, it abandoned the large plastic housing of previous models for a discrete, "thinline" vertical design. This preamp featured a specialized FET circuit to deliver a high-output, low-noise signal that captured the guitar’s natural acoustic resonance. Its interface was famously minimalist, typically sporting three sliding controllers for Volume, Bass, and Treble. Despite its slim size, it was highly regarded for its "plug-and-play" simplicity and road-worthy reliability on stage. The unit was specifically optimized to work with the Ovation OCP-1 "Palathetic" pickup, ensuring a balanced string-to-string response. This model marked a shift toward integrating electronics more seamlessly into the guitar’s body without compromising structural integrity.
