Ovation OP24-E Preamp

1999

The Ovation OP24-E was released in 1999 as an enhanced, modern evolution of the classic OP24 circuitry. It was designed to offer players a more intuitive interface while maintaining the signature high-output, low-noise performance of the brand. This preamp features a 3-band EQ (Bass, Mid, Treble) and a specialized Pre-shape circuit that boosts the lows and highs for a "scooped" acoustic tone. A defining upgrade of the "E" version is the inclusion of a built-in digital chromatic tuner, allowing for quick adjustments on stage. The unit also includes a dedicated battery status LED and a gain control slider to manage output levels effectively. It became a staple on mid-to-high-end models like the Legend and Elite series during the early 2000s.
