Patent for a bridge-type piezoelectric pickup using individual piezoelectric elements for each string mounted within an open-topped U-shaped aluminum case. Each element generates a signal from string vibrations transmitted through saddle members. Features soldered wire conductors for reliable electrical connections to the piezoelectric element faces, Delrin strips for vibration isolation between elements, and silicon rubber fill for secure assembly. Can be configured as either a flat bridge or rounded bridge design. Assigned to Ovation Instruments, Inc. Filed December 6, 1971; patented January 23, 1973.
