I'm the so lucky owner of this wonderful Balladeer #22 !! (1966) The brocken headstock before the repairs at the New Hartford Factory. The brocken headstock after the repairs. These guys are magicians !!!!   The very very small cracks in the varnish on the top. The original order from 1966. And the original invoice.   From the original Ebay's listing: Up for auction is this early vintage six-string Ovation Balladeer guitar, serial number 022 with its original order form and sales receipt. This guitar was ordered by my mother on December 29, 1966 and taken home on January 27, 1967. It’s been in our family ever since. My mother worked for Kaman at the first Ovation factory in the old Fuller Brush building on Main Street in Hartford, Ct. 1966 - 1967. After working at the Ovation factory she transferred to Kaman’s propeller shop. My mother had the original Kluson tuners replaced with the Grover tuners at the factory by a worker mom calls “the tuner guy.” Everything on this guitar is original from the factory. For the most part the guitar is in excellent, only very slightly used condition. The body is beautiful, both back and two-piece construction front, all solid, with just a few light strumming scratches on the front face. The guitar has the distinctive Ovation bowled back, still with the original anti-slide patch stuck on back like new. The guitar’s neck is solid with frets on ebony and inlayed of mother of pearl dots. There is almost zero fret wear. The varnish on the back of the neck does have some age crazing; the worst near the body I’ve photographed. Where the tuners were upgraded you can still see the original Kluson tuners outlines and there are six small leftover Kluson mounting holes visible. The guitar was never dropped, but somehow the back of the head has developed a crack. I’ve taken a close-up photo of this crack for your inspection. The “rise” of the crack at its highest is about 1/32 of an inch. The head is still very solid. I’ve contacted the Ovation Customer Service manager in New Hartford, Ct., and repairing the crack, reinstalling the Klisons and pegging any leftover holes can all be done there at the factory for approximately $200.00. The auction winner has the option of me sending the Balladeer directly to the factory for these repairs. Shipping to New Hartford would be approximately $60.00 (UPS Insured Ground.) Winner will be responsible for the repair charges and the shipping cost from the factory to your location. I will ONLY allow worldwide bidders with the understanding that the Balladeer either ships to the factory for repairs or ships to an address in the continental United States.
