The guitar was built for Jerry when he was a semi-regular musical guest on the 1970 season of the Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour television show. Prototype features include a mahogany (instead of maple) neck, prototype De'Armond single-coil pickups with a switching setup similar the Fender Telecaster both in placement and function. It also has a custom pickguard with a different shape and Jerry Reed" and "Ovation " inlaid into it
